The Great Book Giveaway!
In celebration of World Book 2018 day the English department at Ransom Road Campus have organised ‘The Great Book Giveaway’.
Today pupils can collect a FREE book at break or lunchtime. As well as a range of books to choose from there is a sibling section where pupils can choose an additional book to read with a younger brother or sister.
This year there are a range of World Book Day books for young people, these full-length books are only £1.50 with a book token.
For many young people, World Book Day is associated with primary school, so we’re thrilled that this year the WBD team have an exciting new selection to inspire young adults. For the very first time, participating bookshops are offering teens the choice of FIVE full-length books, instead of two mini books, giving them a point of difference, greater choice and five incredible authors to discover. So, no matter which genre they love to delve into, they’ll discover a new book to love.
World Book Day is a celebration! It’s a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.
The main aim of World Book Day in the UK and Ireland is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own.
Every school aged child in the UK will receive a book token which they can take to a local bookseller and can use it to pick one of TEN (exclusive, new and completely free) books. Or, if they’d rather, they can use it to get £1 off any book or audio book costing over £2.99 at a participating bookshop or book club.
